Only overtake on a motorway when you are sure it is safe, legal, and you can do it on the right-hand side. For example, if a lorry in the left lane is travelling at 55 mph and you are doing 70 mph, you should check your mirrors and blind spot, signal, move into the right-hand lane to pass it smoothly, then return to the left lane when it is safe.
