Using the road•Rule 172
Giving way at junctions
This rule is a legal requirement
The approach to a junction may have a ‘Give Way’ sign or a triangle marked on the road. You MUST give way to traffic on the main road when emerging from a junction with broken white lines across the road.
💡Example
When you see a Give Way sign, triangle road marking, or broken white lines at a junction, you must slow down and let traffic on the main road go first. For example, when turning left from a side street onto a busy main road with broken white lines across your lane, you wait until there is a safe gap in the traffic before pulling out.
