This rule reminds you to be especially cautious whenever you approach or use a junction, because traffic can come from several directions and may be hard to see. For example, as you approach a T-junction in a busy town, you slow right down, check carefully for cyclists and pedestrians crossing in front of you, and only pull out when you’re sure the road is clear in both directions.
