Using the roadRule 169

Avoid Holding Up Traffic Queues

Do not hold up a long queue of traffic, especially if you are driving a large or slow-moving vehicle. Check your mirrors frequently, and if necessary, pull in where it is safe and let traffic pass.

💡Example

If you are driving slowly, you shouldn’t keep a long line of vehicles stuck behind you; check your mirrors and pull in safely to let them pass. For example, if you’re driving a heavily loaded lorry up a hill and notice a queue forming behind, you should use a lay-by or a wide, safe gap on the left to pull in and allow the faster traffic to go by before continuing your journey.
