Using the road•Rule 173
Checking Central Reservations on Dual Carriageways
Dual carriageways. When crossing or turning right, first assess whether the central reservation is deep enough to protect the full length of your vehicle.
💡Example
When turning right or crossing a dual carriageway, you must check if the central reservation is long and wide enough to hold your entire vehicle safely. If it isn’t, you should only cross when you can clear both carriageways in one go. For example, if you’re driving a long van and want to turn right across a dual carriageway, make sure the central gap can fit your whole van before you move; if not, wait for a gap that lets you cross both lanes safely without stopping in the middle.
