Waiting and parking•Rule 249

Parking Lights on Faster Roads

This rule is a legal requirement
All vehicles MUST display parking lights when parked on a road or a lay-by on a road with a speed limit greater than 30 mph (48 km/h).

đź’ˇExample

You must switch on your parking lights if you park on any road or lay-by where the speed limit is over 30 mph. For example, if you park on a 40 mph main road outside a friend’s house at night, you must leave your parking lights on so other drivers can see your vehicle clearly.
