Waiting and parking•Rule 247
Loading and Unloading Restrictions
Loading and unloading. Do not load or unload where there are yellow markings on the kerb and upright signs advise restrictions are in place (see ‘Road markings’). This may be permitted where parking is otherwise restricted. On red routes, specially marked and signed bays indicate where and when loading and unloading is permitted.
💡Example
You must not load or unload where there are yellow lines on the kerb and signs showing loading restrictions, even if stopping or parking might otherwise be allowed. On red routes, you may only load or unload in clearly marked bays during the times shown on the signs. For example, if you’re delivering parcels and see yellow kerb markings with a sign banning loading from 8–9.30am, you must not stop to unload then, but you could use a signed loading bay on a red route at the permitted times.
