Road signs, markings, and vehicle markings•Rule 209
Passing Stationary School Buses Safely
Drive carefully and slowly when passing a stationary bus showing a ‘School Bus’ sign as children may be getting on or off.
💡Example
You must slow right down and drive very carefully when passing a stopped bus displaying a ‘School Bus’ sign, because children may be getting on or off and could step into the road unexpectedly. For example, if you are driving through a village and come up behind a yellow ‘School Bus’ stopped at the kerb, you should reduce your speed, be ready to brake, and watch closely for children crossing from in front of or behind the bus.
