Road signs, markings, and vehicle markings•Rule 211
Checking Carefully for Bikes and Motorbikes
It is often difficult to see motorcyclists and cyclists, especially when they are waiting alongside you, coming up from behind, coming out of or moving off from junctions, at roundabouts, overtaking you or filtering through traffic. Always look out for them before you emerge from a junction; they could be approaching faster than you think.
💡Example
This rule reminds you that cyclists and motorcyclists can be hard to see, especially when they are beside you, behind you, or approaching junctions and roundabouts. Always look carefully for them and remember they may be travelling faster than you expect. For example, before pulling out from a side road, you should check your mirrors and blind spots and look twice for a motorbike that might be overtaking traffic or a cyclist filtering between lanes.
