Road signs, markings, and vehicle markings•Rule 210
Stopping for school crossing patrols
This rule is a legal requirement
You MUST stop when a school crossing patrol shows a ‘Stop for children’ sign (see ‘Signals by authorised persons‘ and ‘Traffic signs‘).
💡Example
You must always stop your vehicle when a school crossing patrol shows the ‘Stop for children’ sign, no matter what the traffic lights or other vehicles are doing. For example, if you are driving past a school and a lollipop person steps into the road holding up their stop sign, you must come to a safe stop and wait until they lower the sign and the children have finished crossing before you move off.
