Overtaking on Three-Lane Carriageways

On a three-lane dual carriageway, you may use the middle lane or the right-hand lane to overtake but return to the middle and then the left-hand lane when it is safe.

💡Example

On a three-lane dual carriageway, you can use the middle or right lane to overtake but should return to the left lane when safe. For example, if you're in the middle lane overtaking a lorry, once you've safely passed it, you should move back to the left lane when it is clear and safe to do so.
