Rules for users of powered wheelchairs and mobility scootersRule 41

Road Safety for Mobility Scooter Users

You should take care when travelling on the road as you may be travelling more slowly than other traffic (your machine is restricted to 8 mph (12 km/h) and may be less visible).

💡Example

When using a powered wheelchair or mobility scooter on the road, be cautious as you move slower than other vehicles and are less visible. For example, if you're travelling along a busy street at 8 mph, ensure you stay close to the kerb and be aware of faster-moving cars approaching from behind.
