Giving Priority to Buses and Trams

Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road.

💡Example

You should let buses, coaches and trams move off from stops when it’s safe, and watch carefully for passengers crossing the road after getting off. This helps traffic flow smoothly and keeps vulnerable pedestrians safe. For example, if you’re driving behind a bus that signals to pull out from a bus stop, slow down and allow it to rejoin the lane, and be ready to stop if someone steps out from in front of the bus to cross the road.
