Road signs, markings, and vehicle markings•Rule 221
Following and Turning Space for Large Vehicles
Large vehicles. These may need extra road space to turn or to deal with a hazard that you are not able to see. If you are following a large vehicle, such as a bus or articulated lorry, be aware that the driver may not be able to see you in the mirrors. Be prepared to stop and wait if it needs room or time to turn.
💡Example
Large vehicles like buses and lorries need more space to turn and may not see you if you are close behind them. You should be ready to slow down or stop to give them room. For example, if an articulated lorry swings out wide at a junction, you should hang back and wait rather than trying to squeeze past on the inside.
