Driving in adverse weather conditionsRule 230

Safe Driving on Ice and Snow

When driving in icy or snowy weather

💡Example

In icy or snowy weather you must drive much more slowly, leave a bigger gap to the vehicle in front, and brake and steer very gently to avoid skidding. For example, on a frosty morning you reduce your speed on a residential road, keep well back from the car ahead, and start braking early and smoothly as you approach a junction so you can stop safely without losing control.
