Road signs, markings, and vehicle markings•Rule 218
Driving in Home Zones and Quiet Lanes
Home Zones and Quiet Lanes. These are places where people could be using the whole of the road for a range of activities such as children playing or for a community event. You should drive slowly and carefully and be prepared to stop to allow people extra time to make space for you to pass them in safety.
💡Example
In Home Zones and Quiet Lanes, people may use the whole road for walking, playing, or community activities, so you must drive very slowly, carefully, and be ready to stop. For example, if you turn into a Home Zone and see children playing football in the road and neighbours chatting by parked cars, you should slow right down, wait patiently, and only pass when they have had enough time to move safely out of your way.
