Diversion route
The diversion route sign, black lettering and a black arrow on a yellow background, shows the way to go when the usual road is closed or blocked. Follow the yellow signs at each junction until the diversion ends, rather than trying to rejoin the closed road early.
Official Highway Code caption: “Diversion route.”
Listed under “Other direction signs” in The Highway Code: traffic signs (GOV.UK). For every sign in more detail, see the Department for Transport’s Know your traffic signs.
