Rules for cyclists•Rule 74
Cyclists: Safe Left Turns
Turning. When approaching a junction on the left, watch out for vehicles turning in front of you, out of or into the side road. If you intend to turn left, check first for other cyclists or motorcyclists before signalling. Do not ride on the inside of vehicles signalling or slowing down to turn left.
💡Example
When cycling towards a left junction, be cautious of vehicles that might turn in front of you. If you plan to turn left, check for other cyclists or motorcyclists before indicating. For instance, if you're cycling down a busy street and a bus ahead signals to turn left, don't try to pass it on the inside. Instead, wait until it's safe and clear to proceed.
