General rules, techniques and advice for all drivers and riders•Rule 124
Obey Speed Limits and Street Lights
This rule is a legal requirement
You MUST NOT exceed the maximum speed limits for the road and for your vehicle (see the speed limits table). The presence of street lights generally means that there is a 30 mph (48 km/h) speed limit unless otherwise specified.
💡Example
Always adhere to the speed limits set for the road and your vehicle type. For instance, if you're driving through a neighbourhood with street lights, assume the speed limit is 30 mph unless signs indicate otherwise.
