Breakdowns and incidents•Rule 284
Markings on Dangerous Goods Vehicles
Vehicles carrying dangerous goods in packages will be marked with plain orange reflective plates. Road tankers and vehicles carrying tank containers of dangerous goods will have hazard warning plates (see ‘Vehicle markings‘).
💡Example
Some vehicles carrying dangerous goods must display special orange or hazard warning plates so you can recognise that they are carrying risky materials. For example, a lorry delivering bottled chemicals to a factory may have plain orange plates, while a fuel tanker at a petrol station will have detailed hazard warning plates so emergency services know exactly what is on board.
