Using the roadRule 192

Keep Pedestrian Crossings Clear

In slow-moving and queuing traffic you should keep crossings completely clear, as blocking these makes it difficult and dangerous for pedestrians to cross. You should not enter a pedestrian crossing if you are unable to completely clear the crossing. Nor should you block advanced stop lines for cycles.

💡Example

In slow or queuing traffic, you must not stop on a pedestrian crossing or block the cycle advanced stop line; only enter if you can fully clear it. For example, if traffic ahead is backed up at lights, you should wait behind the zig-zag lines or stop line, leaving the crossing and cycle box empty, even if the light is green, so pedestrians and cyclists can use them safely.
