Safe Use of Pavements
Pavements and footways (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided. Where possible, avoid being next to the kerb with your back to the traffic. If you have to step into the road, look both ways first. Always remain aware of your environment and avoid unnecessary distractions. Always show due care and consideration for others.

Use pavements and footways when available to stay safe and avoid walking with your back to traffic. For example, if you're walking along a busy street with a pavement, stick to the pavement and avoid distractions like using your phone. If you need to step onto the road to pass an obstacle, check for cars in both directions before doing so.
