Road works, level crossings and tramwaysRule 302

Parking Safely Near Tram Tracks

This rule is a legal requirement
You MUST NOT park your vehicle where it would get in the way of trams or where it would force other drivers to do so. Do not stop on any part of a tram track, except in a designated bay where this has been provided alongside and clear of the track. When doing so, ensure that all parts of your vehicle are outside the delineated tram path. Remember that a tram cannot steer round an obstruction.

💡Example

You must not park or stop on tram tracks or anywhere that would force other vehicles onto the tram lines. Only use marked parking bays that are clearly outside the tram path. For example, if you’re visiting shops in a city with trams, you should park in a signed bay beside the track, making sure no part of your car crosses the painted tram lane, rather than stopping briefly on the rails to ‘just pop in’.
